Policies and Procedures

It is your responsibility to provide accurate and timely documentation to DAS. Once your documentation is in and you have had a formal intake, the process can take up to three weeks to be completed.

You will need to request new accommodation letters each semester and provide these letters to your faculty in a timely fashion, ideally within two weeks.

Faculty may require up to two weeks notice to secure and set up appropriate testing locations and no less than one week.

You will work directly with your faculty members to discuss testing, homework extension, and attendance flexibility accommodations. We are happy to help you navigate this. You will need to let us know if you need our help navigating this.

Sometimes, accommodations might be approved temporarily (provisionally). In these cases, you will need to update your documentation to receive accommodations again. We will notify you if this is the case.

Faculty are not required to provide accommodations that fundamentally alter the nature of their course or lower their academic standards. In these cases, DAS will discuss alternatives with you.

Please keep in mind that Boston University does not provide retroactive accommodations. Please check in as early as possible.

Equipment: Students will return borrowed equipment in the same condition it was loaned. A due date will be assigned during the sign-out process. Students will be charged for late and/or damaged equipment.

Notetaking, Audio, and Transcription Services: Students approved for these services, may only use them for their personal use. They cannot be shared with others. In addition, services are available only when students are present in the class.

Adding your name below indicates that you have read, understood, and agree to these policies.

Thank you for completing this form. If you haven't yet, please contact us at 617-353-3658 to schedule an intake appointment.
